Biden: It was an honor to visit the Raj Ghat Memorial

US President Joe Biden said, “It was an honor to visit the Raj Ghat Memorial today, and lay a wreath with my fellow G20 leaders.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the leaders of G20 member nations paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at the iconic Rajghat on Sunday. Mahatma Gandhi is internationally honored for his philosophy of nonviolence and his leadership of the Indian independence movement. He is often called Mahatma, which means ‘Great Soul.’

US President Joe Biden said that it was an honor to visit the Raj Ghat after laying a wreath with other G20 leaders on the second day of the summit in New Delhi. He highlighted how non-violence and truth matter today more than ever.

US President Joe Biden’s official X account posted, “It was an honor to visit the Raj Ghat Memorial today, and lay a wreath with my fellow G20 leaders. Mahatma Gandhi’s message of non-violence, respect, and truth matters today more than ever — may it continue to inspire the world and be the basis of the bond between our countries.”

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s official account also reacted after his visit to the Raj Ghat and wrote on X account,

“Today Prime Minister @RishiSunak paid his respects at Raj Ghat alongside other world leaders. Raj Ghat stands as an inspiring memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi and his leadership, which sets as an example to leaders today.”

PM Modi underlined that Gandhi Ji’s timeless ideals guide the collective vision for a harmonious, inclusive, and prosperous global future. PM posted on X (formerly known as Twitter):

“At the iconic Rajghat, the G20 family paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi – the beacon of peace, service, compassion and non-violence. 

As diverse nations converge, Gandhi Ji’s timeless ideals guide our collective vision for a harmonious, inclusive and prosperous global future.”

The Prime Minister’s Office posted:

“The G20 family pays homage to Bapu. World leaders visited Rajghat where they paid tributes at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote on his X account, “Decades ago, Mahatma Gandhi inspired people around the world with his peaceful resistance to colonialism. And today, @G20org leaders started the day by honouring him and his contributions at Rajghat – his final resting place.”
