Delhi traffic police issues an advisory for G-20 summit

Delhi Traffic Police issues a traffic advisory ahead of the G-20 summit. India is gearing up to host the 18th G-20 Summit on 09th & 10th September 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. 

This event will be attended by heads of state /heads of Government (HoG) of member countries & invitee countries and heads of international organizations. It will be an opportunity for India to showcase its values, cultural heritage, infrastructural development, and event management capabilities. 

The traffic advisory reads, “As Indians, we all should showcase the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” in front of our foreign guests and earnestly discharge our fundamental duties to ensure smooth conduct of the Summit. In the interest of public safety and convenience of the general public, elaborate regulations on vehicular movements will be in place in the National Capital Region (NCR), especially in New Delhi District and its surrounding areas. The overall objective is to facilitate hassle-free movement of various modes of transport so as to ensure ease of movement for the general public.” 

According to the Delhi Traffic Police, “All the essential services will be provided obstruction-free movements and access to their destination. Medical emergency vehicles will be assured hassle-free movement throughout Delhi. Movement of the general public will also be facilitated via alternate routes and modes of transport.”

Earlier, the General Administration Department of Delhi decided to declare public holidays in the National Capital Territory of Delhi in a Gazette notification issued on August 24.

“All shops, commercial and As per Section 16 (3) (i) of The Delhi Shops and business establishments Establishments Act, 1954 all shops, commercial and situated within the business establishments situated within the jurisdiction of jurisdiction of New Delhi. New Delhi Police District (as per attached map) shall remain Police District closed from 08th to 10th September, 2023.”
