Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), met his nephew Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra. The meeting comes at a time when the NCP is facing a crisis following the defection of Ajit Pawar to the Shiv Sena-BJP government.

Ajit Pawar resigned from the NCP on June 29, 2023, and joined the Shiv Sena-BJP government on July 2, 2023. His defection led to the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra.

The meeting between Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar has sparked speculation about the future of the NCP. Some political analysts believe that the meeting could be a sign that senior Pawar is trying to patch things up with his nephew. Others believe that the meeting could be a precursor to something new in Maharashtra politics.

It remains to be seen what will come out of this meeting, but it is certainly a significant development in the ongoing political crisis in Maharashtra.

Pawar asked what is wrong if he meets his nephew. He says that a senior member of the family wants to meet another family member and nobody should have any issue with that. The senior leader also said that the discussion was by our well-wishers to see if there can be any change in our stand.

Maharashtra politics is now rife with speculations about whether senior Pawar shifts its focus from the Congress alliance to the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. However, the NCP chief has been tight-lipped and treading his moves very carefully.

Ajit Pawar is a senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He had previously served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra from November 2019 to June 2022. He resigned from the NCP on June 29, 2023, and joined the Shiv Sena-BJP government on July 2, 2023. His defection led to the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra.

Ajit Pawar’s appointment as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra is seen as a major boost for the Shiv Sena-BJP government. He is a seasoned politician with a deep understanding of the state. He is also known for his administrative skills.
