Facebook and Instagram users faced login issues in India.

Thousands of users in India experienced temporarily inaccessibility to their Facebook and Instagram accounts on Tuesday as their accounts were logout and they were not able to login back. The outage led to widespread posts across many channels online.

Around 500,000 Facebook users and 50,000 Instagram users faced login issues. Many reported outages for Google and Meta-owned services, prompting users to use alternative platforms like X and WhatsApp.

However, Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, fixed a global outage that affected users. The disruption, causing difficulty accessing both platforms, led to an apology from Andy Stone, Meta’s Communications Director. He acknowledged the technical issue and reassured users it was resolved quickly.

Stone posted on his X account, “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

The network outage problem emerged at 9 PM IST, and Meta is actively working to address it. About 80,000 people reported issues with Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger an hour and a half after the outage began, according to Downdetector. Stone confirmed the quick resolution and apologised for any inconvenience in a social media post.
