4 dead as lift falls in Greater Noida West society

Eight workers were killed and several others injured after a lift fell in the under-construction Amrapali building in Greater Noida.
Four people have died after a lift fell off an under-construction building of the Amrapali residential society. The horrific incident has come to light in Greater Noida West of Uttar Pradesh.
All the people who died were labourers who were working on the construction site. Why this accident happened is not yet known. According to the sources, DCP has reached the spot. The authorities have expressed grief over the accident.
Other Incidents of Lift Fall
Earlier this month, a similar incident was reported from sector 137 where a 73-year-old senior citizen lady died due to a free fall of a lift in a high-rise Paras Tierea society of Noida.
The incident has caused shock and anger across many societies in Greater Noida West and nearby societies and residents are afraid of using lifts as they are not being maintained properly to avoid such accidents. Residents have demanded that the authorities take strict action and enforce the Lift Act in this area to ensure lift safety is taken on priority by the authorities.
A case of negligence
According to local people, this accident happened at around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning in Greater Noida West. This lift was used to send workers to work in the building under construction above. The building where this accident took place was being built under the name of Amrapali Dream Valley Project. The construction work is underway in this project under the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC project). This residential building is located near Gaur City in Gr. Noida West and it comes under the Bisrakh police station area.
This appears to be a case of negligence. However, it is not yet clear what happened at the scene. Was the lift not being maintained properly? What could have been the reason behind the sudden fall of the lift is being investigated now by the police in Greater Noida West.
The UP police have currently registered a case of negligence in this case and have started investigating the matter.
