A minor accident and the ensuing altercation took a tragic turn when a man fired a shot that killed a 30-year-old woman in Delhi on Wednesday. The incident took place near the Gokalpuri flyover when Heera Singh, his wife Simranjeet Kaur, and their two minor sons were on their way to someplace on a motorcycle. The family narrowly managed to avoid a collision with a scooty, resulting in a heated argument between Mr. Singh and the scooty rider.

As the argument escalated, the scooty rider drove off to take the flyover while Mr. Singh and his family remained on the road below. Even then, neither of them gave up the confrontation and continued shouting abuses at each other. Suddenly, the man on the scooty fired a single shot from about 35 feet above, off the flyover. The bullet hit Simranjeet Kaur in the suprasternal notch, where the neck meets the chest.

Heera Singh rushed his wife to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, but she was declared brought dead. The couple’s two sons, aged four and twelve, were also at risk during the incident.

“A case of murder is being registered, and we are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify and arrest the accused,” a police official stated. Further investigation is underway.
