Virat Kohli scored 122 not out to help India beat Pakistan by 228 runs in the Asia Cup 2023 on Monday. The rain affected the first-day match, with India batting first and scoring 356 for 2 in 50 overs. Kohli scored his 47th ODI century off 94 balls, and he made an unbroken partnership of 233 runs with KL Rahul, who scored 111 not out.

India got off to a good start, with Rohit Sharma with Shubam Gill giving a solid start for the first wicket. Sharma was dismissed for 56, while Gill got out at.

Virat Kohli then came in and took charge of the innings. He scored his ODI century off 94 balls, and he was involved in an unbroken partnership of 233 runs with KL Rahul. Rahul scored his 50th ODI half-century, and he finished unbeaten on 111.

India’s total of 356 for 2 was a daunting target, and Pakistan would have needed a good start to have any chance of chasing it down. Pakistan were bowled out for 128 in 39.2 overs. Kuldeep Yadav took 5 wickets for 25 runs. 

Pakistan’s innings got off to a disastrous start as Fakhar Zaman was dismissed for 27, Imam-ul-Haq for 9, and Babar Azam for 10. They looked exhausted and hardly gave any fightback to the Indian side. India’s bowlers kept Pakistan’s batsmen under pressure throughout the innings. 

Kuldeep Yadav played exceptionally well and kept the Pakistani side guessing his strategies. Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Shardul Thakur took one wicket each in the match.

The Asia Cup has been held 15 times, with India winning the most titles (7), followed by Sri Lanka (6).

The current format of the Asia Cup consists of two stages: the group stage and the Super Four stage. In the group stage, the teams are divided into two groups of three. The top two teams from each group progress to the Super Four stage. In the Super Four stage, the teams play each other once, with the top two teams progressing to the final.
