Greater Noida West: Police nab news portal owner, two others linked to Ravi Kana gang

According to police, the trio had been intimidating individuals and extorting money by threatening to publish fake news.
The owner of the Tricity Today Hindi news portal, Pankaj Parasar, was arrested on Tuesday by Greater Noida Police, along with two others, Dev Sharma and Awadhesh Sisodia, for their alleged involvement in the notorious Ravi Kana gang and extortion activities.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida) Saad Miya Khan, the trio had been intimidating individuals and extorting money by threatening to publish fake news against them. “Their call records confirm their links to the Ravi Kana gang,” Khan said.
The police also recovered Rs 6.3 lakh in cash and two luxury vehicles from the suspects. Investigators have traced 15 to 20 suspicious bank accounts linked to the accused, which reportedly facilitated illegal money transactions for the gang.
This case takes an even darker turn with new details. On November 8, the accused allegedly lured a man named Manoj Kumar to Pari Chowk in Greater Noida under the guise of giving a statement for a news report. Once there, they revealed their connection to Ravi Kana and threatened to publish fake news against him unless he paid up. Kumar was also warned that he would be killed if he didn’t comply.
Terrified, Kumar approached the police, leading to an FIR being filed under Section 308(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (extortion by putting someone in fear of death or hurt) at Beta 2 police station.
This isn’t the first time Ravi Kana’s name has surfaced in serious allegations. Last April, he was arrested for his involvement in a gangrape case and other illegal activities across Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad.
The arrest of Parasar and his associates raises alarming questions about the misuse of media platforms for criminal activities, casting a shadow on ethical journalism and law enforcement’s role in curbing such practices.
