Babita’s husband, Naveen Kumar, filed a police complaint against the dog owner, stating that his wife required surgery for her injuries. He mentioned that the dog, left unleashed, attacked Babita while the owners were preoccupied with music inside their flat. No one came to Babita’s aid for nearly 10 minutes after the attack.
While the dog owner covered the treatment costs, Kumar revealed that this was the third incident involving their dog attacking someone. He refused any settlement and received support from the family in the building where his wife worked.
Rohit Vyas, a resident of Galaxy Royale, expressed concern about the lack of sympathy from the dog owner and highlighted previous incidents involving the same dog. He noted that the owner’s 2BHK flat did not provide sufficient space for such a large dog.
Based on Kumar’s complaint, the Bisrakh police filed an FIR under IPC sections 289 (negligent conduct concerning animals), 504 (intentionally provoking and insulting a person), and 506 (criminal intimidation). Babita, residing in Biharipura in the Vijay Nagar area of Greater Noida, was taken to the hospital by the dog owner after the incident.
There have been multiple incidents in Greater Noida West housing societies and authorities have imposed fines on pet owners for not following rules issued for keeping pets and leaving them unattended.
