Greater Noida West Police arrested two over parking dispute.

A disturbing incident unfolded on Sunday night in Flora Heritage society in Greater Noida West, as tensions over wrong car parking escalated into a shocking assault on an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) rank officer. A viral video from the society shows some residents mishandling the police personnel who came to arrest the assailants. Some residents alleged that police personnel snatched mobile phones when they tried to record the incident.

Some residents said that the police officer was attacked by some residents of the high-rise society over a parking dispute. It appears that the incident occurred when a guest invited by the ACP officer parked his vehicle in someone else’s parking which resulted in this incident.

The heated exchange took an alarming turn when some residents wielded a helmet as a weapon against the ACP officer. Upon notification of the event, a team from the Bisrakh police station hastened to the scene and arrested the assailants. The injured ACP was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility.

The police have lodged a complaint under sections 353 (assault on a public servant), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with a deadly weapon), and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code. The assailants were remanded to judicial custody whereas Police are now trying to identify the remaining unidentified individuals who played a role in this incident.

Such incidents are commonplace in many high-rise societies of Greater Noida and Noida where parking mismanagement either by the developer or residents’ welfare associations lead to disputes among residents.

Since these societies have no slots for guest parking, therefore, disputes take place every time someone wrongly parks his vehicle in someone else’s parking. Some societies have clearly defined guest parking spots while most societies still seem to have no solution for these petty problems which can lead to serious consequences when disputes result in physical assaults.
