Andhra Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered an inquiry into the incident. A case has been registered, and a final-year student has been detained in connection with the matter. Students reported that over 300 videos were allegedly recorded and shared within the boys’ hostel.

The hidden camera was found inside the girls’ hostel at Gudlavalleru College of Engineering by a student, triggering a protest on Thursday night. The discovery raised serious concerns among students about safety and privacy on campus.

Hundreds of students gathered at the college, chanting slogans such as “We want justice” and demanding strict action against those responsible for placing the hidden camera and distributing the videos. Police were called in amid the protest, and a final-year engineering student suspected of being involved in placing the camera was detained. The identity of the detained student has not been revealed, and investigations are ongoing.

However, the college administration denied the presence of any hidden cameras in the girls’ hostel and stated that they were fully cooperating with the police investigation. The administration also promised to enhance security measures on campus. The police, in the presence of students and college staff, examined the laptops, mobile phones, and other electronic devices of the accused but found no incriminating evidence.
