In addition, 23,043 new establishments were brought under the ESI scheme’s social security umbrella. This move ensures better protection and support for employees in these workplaces. The inclusion of new establishments reflects ESIC’s ongoing efforts to widen its reach and provide more workers with essential benefits.

A year-on-year analysis shows encouraging growth. Net registrations increased by 9% compared to September 2023. This rise highlights the consistent efforts of ESIC in extending its coverage and providing access to social security services.

Focus on Young Workers

Out of the 20.58 lakh new registrations, 10.05 lakh employees belong to the age group of up to 25 years. This constitutes 48.83% of the total additions. The high proportion of young workers indicates ESIC’s growing appeal to the newer workforce entering formal employment. It also shows the emphasis on securing social security for younger employees early in their careers.

Gender and Inclusivity Data

Gender-wise analysis of the payroll data presents further insights. A total of 3.91 lakh female members were newly enrolled in September 2024. This represents the increasing participation of women in formal employment and their inclusion under the ESI scheme.

In a noteworthy milestone, 64 transgender employees were also registered during the month. This achievement demonstrates ESIC’s commitment to inclusivity and its efforts to provide social security to all sections of society, regardless of gender.

Continuous Data Updates

It is important to note that the payroll data is provisional. Data generation is an ongoing process, with regular updates ensuring accurate and comprehensive records. These updates will further refine the reported numbers in the coming months.

A Step Forward for Social Security

The figures for September 2024 underline ESIC’s dedication to expanding social security in India. By increasing the number of registered employees and establishments, ESIC is reinforcing its role in protecting workers and supporting businesses. With a steady rise in registrations and a focus on inclusivity, ESIC is paving the way for a more secure and equitable workforce.
